Leading an Educational Design+Build Workshop with Grey&Ivy

Nov 2022

Working with a colleague at Grey & Ivy, we hosted a three week design+build workshop to learners as part of a skilled trades program. We shared educational materials on the basics of design and architecture and led students through the entire process of community wants/needs through ideation, planning, prototyping, budgeting, and ultimately building.

In the first week of the workshop we focused on skill development. In week two we selected the goal to create a hunting stand, developed the design in detail, and selected the site. In the third and final week, we built the hunting stand.

As facilitators, our goal was to ensure the project was successful with minimal input. We aimed to empower learners with the necessary skills and know-how to make.
